The West Fund is excited to be joining the National Network of Abortion Funds for their annual Bowl-a-Thon Fundraiser!
What is Bowl-a-Thon?
In a nutshell, people raise money for the West Fund, celebrate with us at the end of April to celebrate the hard work we all did! Bowling is usually the event-of-choice for NNAF organizations, but in El Paso, we like to do things differently. We have a day that will be sure to be worth all your hard work! We'll update you as our celebration venue is finalized and the event is closer. You don't need to attened the event or live in El Paso to fundraise for us, though!
The Bowl-a-Thon is a great way for supporters like you to represent the West Fund - your local abortion access fund - and get your friends to join you in bowling down barriers to abortion access in west Texas. By using our online fundraising site (bowl.nnaf.org/westfund), you will be able to set up your own personalized fundraising page to benefit West Fund. You can then direct your friends and family to it via email or on social media.
All of your fundraising is done before the event. On the day of the Bowl-a-Thon, you simply show up and have a great time!
But why should I fundraise for the West Fund?
The West Fund has funded over 400 people over $50,000 for abortion procedures since our founding in December 2014. We’re only able to provide assistance for a small for a small portion of the procedure, but with your support, we’ll be able to fund more people and make an even greater impact in our community.
What do team captains do?
Team captains get the message out. They will recruit and lead 1-5 teammates and create a team page. Team captains will also make sure their teammates meet their personal fundraising goals; each teammate commits to raising at least $100. Teams also get to make awesome team pages, themes, costumes, and catchy names (One of our favorites: A famously red baseball cap with "Make Abortion Great Again" embroidered on it!). You can fundraise on your own if you don't want to start a team, but when it comes to fundraising, the more the merrier!
What if I’d rather join an existing team?
Contact us at gina@westfund.org and we can hook you up with teams in your city looking for bowlers, and bowlers looking for teams. Think about all the awesome like-minded Hyde Strikers you could meet!

Be sure you create both a team page and a personal page. You can set a team goal and a personal goal. We've even included some starter goals on the home page, if you are looking for a concrete goal. After you create a team, select ‘Join this Team’ to create your personal fundraising page.
Once you register, you can use our online system to send emails to friends and family asking them to support your team by pledging to expand access to abortion.
I don't have time for fundraising! What if I just want to give you money?
Not everybody has time to build a team and fundraise. If you would rather just donate, you can do so on the bowl.nnaf.org/westfund page. We recommend you choose a team or person to donate, so scroll through the pages, find your favorite, and donate there! As long as it is on the West Fund fundraising page, we'll make sure it goes to abortions here in west Texas.
